Te Ngāhere

The forest that remembers

Native bush surrounds Ōariki and runs back into the ranges. The ngāhere is a world of its own — home to manu, insects and plants that belong to this place.

Step into cool green light and birdsong. Walk beneath the canopy, watch for manu, and let the pace of the forest slow you down.

Our Kaitiakitanga

We do not simply own this place — we have a responsibility to care for it.

The ngāhere is under pressure across Aotearoa. Protecting native biodiversity — and treading lightly within it — is central to how the Trust cares for Ōariki, so the forest is richer for those who come after us.
